Wildlife Experience

The FreeMe Wildlife Experience is a comprehensive 3-month training program that combines theoretical components with practical hands-on experience covering all aspects of mammal, bird, and reptile rehabilitation at the FreeMe Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre in Howick, Kwazulu-Natal.

Course materials consists of the following modules:

  • Introduction to Wildlife Rehabilitation – patient handling, admission, stabilization, treatment, recovery and release
  • Introduction to Wildlife Nutrition
  • Baby Wildlife – When to Intervene
  • Microscopy – learn how to prepare and examine fecal floats and blood slides
  • Necropsies and Samples – learn how to conduct a post mortem and collect samples
  • Birds – a comprehensive care guide
  • Mammals – a comprehensive care guide
  • Reptiles – a comprehensive care guide


The cost of the course includes:

  • Work file containing all work books and stationary needed for the course.
  • PPE – overalls, gloves, masks, and any other protective equipment.
  • Disposables – dressings, splints, needles and syringes, and any other medical equipment needed for practical training sessions.
  • Accommodation – fully kitted out self-catering cabins on site.

 

Not included in the cost of the course is food and transportation – this you will need to supply yourself.
