Wildlife Experience

The FreeMe Wildlife Experience is an intensive 3-month training program that combines theoretical components with practical hands-on work experience at the FreeMe Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre in Howick, Kwazulu-Natal.

Course materials consist of the following modules:
  • Introduction to Wildlife Rehabilitation – patient handling, admission, stabilization, treatment and recovery.
  • Introduction to Wildlife Nutrition
  • Microscopy – learn how to prepare and examine fecal floats and blood slides
  • Wildlife Babies
  • Birds – a comprehensive care guide
  • Mammals – a comprehensive care guide
  • Reptiles – a comprehensive care guide
  • Wildlife Releases – planning, preparation, and collaboration
The cost of the course includes:
  • Work file containing all work books and stationary needed for the course.
  • Uniform – 3 FreeMe Wildlife T-shirts.
  • PPE – gloves, masks, and any other protective equipment.
  • Disposables – dressings, splints, needles and syringes, and any other medical equipment needed for practical training sessions.
  • Accommodation – fully kitted out self-catering cabins on site.
 
Not included in the cost of the course is food and transportation – this you will need to supply yourself.
